This is important, if you want to vote in the Nov. 2 elections and aren't registered, or in the case of the District of Columbia, if you're not sure you're registered. The deadline for registering, depending upon where you live, is either today or Monday. Here is the rundown:
For Virginians, today is the deadline. In Arlington, the registrar's office in the courthouse will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and would-be voters may also sign up at all county libraries from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In Fairfax County, registration will be held at 4031 University Dr., Fairfax City, or at any county library from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In Alexandria, registration is available at the registrar's office in the downtown courthouse and the Duncan or Burke branch libraries from 9 to 5. In other communities, call the registrar's office for information.
In the District of Columbia, the deadline is Monday. The Board of Elections and Ethics in the District Building, 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW, will be open until 5 p.m. that day; mail registrations postmarked by midnight will be accepted.
In Maryland, registration closes Monday, with the legal deadline of 9 p.m., but call your county's Board of Elections Supervisors for details.
