The D.C. Office of Planning and Development will hold a series of lunch-hour briefings beginning today on a proposed new comprehensive land-use plan for the District.

The informal briefings, which will be conducted by members of the planning office staff, will be held in a meeting room on the fourth floor of the Lansburgh Building, 420 Seventh St. NW, beginning at noon.

Today's session will provide an overview of the proposal. Other sessions will cover land use (Nov. 9), housing (Nov. 16), public facilities (Nov. 23), transportation (Nov. 30), environmental protection (Dec. 7) and urban design and historic preservation (Dec. 14).

The planning office also has scheduled forums and briefings on the proposal throughout the city, all beginning at 7:30 p.m., as follows:

Ward 4 -- Nov. 4, 4th District police station, 6000 Georgia Ave. NW.

Ward 3 -- Nov. 9, 2nd District police station, 3320 Idaho Ave. NW.

Ward 8 -- Nov. 16, Terrell Elementary School, Wheeler and Savannah streets SE.

Ward 7 -- Nov. 18, 6th District police station, 100 42nd St. NE.

Ward 5 -- Nov. 22, 5th District police station, 1805 Bladensburg Rd. NE.

Ward 1 -- Nov. 30, 3rd District police station, 1620 V St. NW.

Ward 2 -- Dec. 2, Fourth floor of the Landsburgh Building.

Ward 6 -- Dec. 8, Hines Jr. High School Auditorium, 8th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue SE.
