Dennis O'Neill Martin, 18, a lifelong area resident and a student at Slippery Rock State College in Pennsylvania, died Dec. 23 at Prince George's General Hospital as a result of injuries he had received in an automobile accident earlier that day.
A spokesman for the Prince George's County Police said that Mr. Martin was killed after his car was struck by a pickup truck when he went through a red light at the intersection of Branch Avenue and Malcolm Road in Clinton at about 9 p.m.
The driver of the pickup lost control of his truck and hit two other vehicles. A passenger in Mr. Martin's car sustained minor injuries, and the driver of the pickup and another driver were treated for injuries at Southern Maryland Hospital and released, police said.
Mr. Martin, who lived in Clinton, was a native of Washington. He was a June 1982 graduate of the Clinton Christian School, where he was a member of the football, wrestling, and track teams.
He was a member of the Clinton Baptist Church in Clinton.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis O'Neill Martin Sr., and a grandmother, Mary Henderson, all of Clinton.
