Advisory Neighborhood Commission 3B is asking the D.C. Department of Transportation to rehabilitate the Whitehurst Freeway rather than tear it down. The ANC says rebuilding is the most economical solution and will cause the least inconvenience to commuters. In addition, the ANC called for "car pool only" traffic on Canal Road between Chain Bridge and MacArthur Boulevard while the freeway is under construction.

In an effort to cut down on commuter traffic in the neighborhood, the ANC has asked the Department of Transportation to install "Do not enter 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m." signs at the intersection of Clark Place and Canal Road NW. The ANC is opposed to the DOT's plan for 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. parking restrictions on the north side of Reservoir Road NW between Hoban Street and Foxhall Road, arguing that they would be a major inconvenience to residents.

The ANC has asked the city to hold a hearing on new congressional legislation relaxing zoning restrictions on embassy locations. The council wants to determine what effect the change might have on neighborhoods.

The ANC is supporting a proposal to postpone ANC elections until 1984. The postponement would give the Board of Elections and Ethics time to study ways to bring symmetry to the ANC and to precinct boundaries. ANC 3B is proposing a city-wide meeting of ANCs and community groups to discuss the election process.
