Free processed American cheese and butter will be distributed to eligible families in Fairfax and Arlington counties from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
To be eligible, families must live in those two jurisdictions and already be receiving one or more of the following: food stamps, Medicaid, aid to dependent children, general relief, or refugee assistance.
Officials in both counties suggest that recipients pick up their cheese and butter at the location nearest their residence. Since no shortage of cheese or butter is anticipated, officials urge eligible persons not to arrive early.
Up to 20 pounds of cheese per household will be distributed, depending on family size. One pound of butter will be distributed per family member.
For further information, call the Fairfax County Information and Referral Service at 691-3253 or the Arlington County Information and Referral Service at 558-2105.
