Elaine F. Campbell, 60, an employe of the National Cancer Institute who was active in volunteer organizations, died of cancer Feb. 12 in her home in Arlington.

She had been a Red Cross Gray Lady and done volunteer work with the Navy Relief Society. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Arlington.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Washington. She was a graduate of McKinley Tech High School and Strayer Business College. From 1972 to 1974, she was a teachers aide at Herbert Hoover High School. Since then, she has been a grants technical assistant in the National Cancer Institute's grants review branch.

She was the 1940 "Golden Mirror Girl," a beauty contest winner named by the old Washington Times-Herald.

Survivors include her husband, retired Navy Cmdr. William C. Campbell, of Arlington; a son, William C. II, of Clearwater, Fla.; two daughters, Carolynda Campbell of Herndon, and Collet Behram of San Diego, and her mother, Mabel S. Glorius, of Silver Spring. Elaine F.
