Henry McKinley Dennis Sr., 62, an employe of the Army for 33 years before retiring as a mail room supervisor in 1974, died Feb. 13 in the Washington Hospital Center. He had been hospitalized since Nov. 26, 1982, when he was injured in an automobile accident near the intersection of U.S. Rte. 29 and Virginia Ret. 657 in Fauquier County, Va.

A spokesman for the Virginia State Police said Mr. Dennis parked his car on Rte. 29 when it apparently ran out of gas. The spokesman said it was struck by a vehicle driven by a Middleburg man. Mr. Dennis was taken by helicopter to the Washington Hospital Center.

Mr. Dennis, who lived in Washington, was a native of Woodville, Va., and moved to this area in 1940. He served in the Army in World War II. He was a 1958 recipient of a sustained superior performance award from the Department of the Army.

His marriage to the former Juanita Pendergrass ended in divorce.

Survivors include a son, Henry Jr. of St. Thomas, V.I.; a daughter, Donna Dennis Lucas of Washington; three brothers, Nowton R., of Ventnor, N.J., Johnnie W., of Culpeper, Va., and Hugh M., of Washington; two sisters, Mary McNeill of Silver Spring and Sadie D. Hardy of Washington, and one grandchild.
