Fairfax County taxpayers who have not received their personal property tax forms in the mail may obtain them at various locations in the county.
Forms have been sent to county residents who filed personal property tax returns in 1982 in Fairfax County. Newcomers are required to get a tax form at any of the following locations: 4100 Chain Bridge Rd., Fairfax; 6121 Franconia Rd., Franconia; 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale; 2511 Parkers La., Mount Vernon; 1437 Balls Hill Rd., McLean; 11415 Isaac Newton Square, Reston, and 6140 Rolling Rd., Springfield. Forms are also available at county public libraries.
Fairfax County taxes automobiles, trucks, motor homes, mobile homes, motorcycles, trailers, boats, outboard motors, airplanes, farm machinery, farm tools and livestock as personal property. Personal effects, household goods, money and securities are not taxed.
People owning personal property in Fairfax County on Jan. 1, 1983, must complete and file a return of tangible personal property. Business or professionals must complete a business return of tangible personal property and machinery and tools. Returns must be filed with the Supervisor of Assessments by May 1. Virginia state income tax returns also must be filed by May 1.
