The Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation has awarded six contracts for highway construction, maintenance and resurfacing projects in Northern Virginia.
The projects are:
Stafford County-Interstate 95. Widening 3.8 miles from four lanes to six lanes and expanding the U.S. 17 interchange between the Rappahannock River bridge and Cranes Corner north of Fredericksburg. W. C. English, Inc., Altavista, $10,050,071.
Caroline and Spotsylvania counties-Interstate 95. Widening 5.4 miles from four to six lanes between Nancy Wrights Corner and Ni River north of Thornburg. W. C. English, Inc., Altavista, $11,118,424.
Arlington-Interstate 66. Landscape planting along a 1.5 mile section between Sycamore Street and North Jefferson Street. The Gilmore Plant and Bulb Co., Inc., Julian, N.C., $367,336.
Loudoun County-U.S. 15. Widening two bridges over unnamed streams north of Leesburg. Flippo Construction Co., Inc., Forestville, Md., $84,399.
Fairfax County-U.S. 29. Lowering the grade on a section of the southbound roadway between Clifton Road and Stringfellow Road east of Centerville to improve the sight distance. R. L. Rider and Co., Warrenton, $172,447. Also in Fairfax County, secondary 5733 (High Point Road). Grading, draining, and paving 2.9 miles of two-lane recreational access roadway at Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge between Gunston Hall and Belmont Bay.
