The federal government and area jurisdictions will observe the Memorial Day holiday on Monday.

All federal offices will be closed on Monday.

In Maryland and Virginia, state and county government offices will be closed, and District government offices will be closed.

There will be no mail delivery Monday, except for special delivery and express mail.

All post offices, banks and courts will be closed.

Metrobus and Metrorail will operate on a Sunday schedule. Off-peak fares will be in effect.

The Silver Spring Ride-On service will operate on a Sunday schedule while the Gaithersburg Ride-On will not be in operation.

All area schools will be closed as well.

Liquor stores will be closed on Monday in Virginia and Montgomery County, but most will be open in the District and Prince George's County.

Libraries in the District of Columbia will be closed today through Monday and other area libraries will be closed on Monday.

There will be no trash collections in the District of Columbia on Monday.

Supercan trash collections will be made one day late, while regular trash collections on Monday will be made on Tuesday and Tuesday's trash will be collected on Wednesday. The rest of the week, trash collection will operate on schedule.

In Montgomery County there will be no trash pickup on Monday.

Trash collections in Prince George's County will be made on schedule.

In Fairfax County, Fairfax City and Arlington County trash collections will be made on schedule.

In Vienna there will be no trash collection on Monday.

In Alexandria there will be no pickup on Monday, Monday's trash will be collected on Tuesday and Tuesday collections will be made on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday collections will be made on schedule.

Parking meter payments will not be required in the District; enforcement of traffic and parking regulations will vary in other jurisdictions.
