The Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation has awarded these six contracts for highway construction, maintenance and resurfacing projects in Northern Virginia:

Herndon: Herndon Parkway -- Construction of 0.4 miles of divided four-lane road north and south of Spring Street. Shirley Contracting Corp., Lorton, $1,063,651.

Fairfax County: Rte. 7 (Leesburg Pike) -- Furnishing and erecting traffic signal lights between the Capital Beltway and Haycock Road. Palisades Construction Corp., Arlington, $131,864.

Fairfax and Prince William counties: Rte. 29 -- Replacement of the deck and other improvements to the bridge over Bull Run at Battlefield Park north of Manassas. Wilkins Construction Co. Inc., Amherst, $311,796.

Fairfax County: Rte. 123 (Chain Bridge Road and Dolley Madison Boulevard) -- Furnishing and erecting traffic signal lights at Old Courthouse Road, International Drive and the entrance to Tysons Corner shopping center. Mike Hunger Inc., Virginia Beach, $99,590.

Prince William County: Rte. 2191 -- Grading, draining, and paving 0.7 miles of two-lane access roadway through Lake Ridge Recreational Park to the Occoquan River near the Woodbridge Airport, R.L. Rider and Co., Warrenton, $186,640.

Prince William County: Secondary 660 -- Grading, draining, and paving 1.2 miles of two lane road on an improved alignment west of Manassas. R.L. Rider and Co., Warrenton, $216,818.
