Fairfax County Police received the following crime reports from Aug. 5 through Aug. 10 in the Mason Police District and portions of the McLean District, as shown in the accompanying map: Thefts/Break-ins

DOLCE DR., 7500 block. A house was ransacked and vandalized, with red paint sprayed on many items. Handguns and coins were stolen. Entry was through a rear door.

HYANNIS CT., 1900 block. A General Electric washer and dryer were taken from an apartment.

KATHY LA., 1900 block. A gold diamond ring and a watch were taken from an apartment. Entry was through the front door.

KIDWELL DR., 1900 block. A Panasonic color television monitor was taken from a building. Entry was through a pried-open front door.

LACHINE LA., 6200 block. Officers observed a man trying to open sliding glass doors at several residences. A 24-year-old Alexandria man was arrested and charged with attempted burglary.

OLD DOMINION DR., 6200 block. Twelve Atlas tires were taken from a business establishment. Entry was by breaking a window.

OLD MEADOW RD., 1800 block. A Quasar video recorder, a stereo receiver and two speakers were taken from an office. Entry was through the front door.

SLEEPY HOLLOW RD., 4200 block. A .25-caliber handgun was removed from a home. Entry was by prying off a screen and pushing a window open.

STEPPS CT., 3800 block. Torches, lights and an electric drill were taken from three construction trailers. Entry was by prying door locks.

W. GLEN DR., 2800 block. Six lounge chairs were removed from the yard of a residence.
