The D.C. Department of Recreation is accepting applications for vacancies at the agency's 20 day-care centers. Registration will be held 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Sept. 12.

Eligibility requirements are based on family income and size. Children enrolled in a city-approved program also are eligible.

The centers provide for children year-round from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. A hot meal and two snacks are served daily.

Ward 2--Randall, South Capitol and I streets SW.

Ward 4--Emergy, Lincoln Road and Randolph Street NE.

Ward 5--Langston, 2209 H St. NE; New York Avenue, 1st Street and New York Avenue NW, and Woodridge, Central and Carlton avenues NE.

Ward 6--Bryan, Independence Avenue between 13th and 14th streets SE; Early Childhood Developmental Center, 3030 G St. SE; Rosedale, 17th and Gales streets NE, and Watkins-Potomac, 12th and E streets SE.

Ward 7--Benning Park, 53rd Street and Southern Avenue SE; Deanwood, 49th and Quarles streets NE; East Capitol, 5752 East Capitol St. SE, and Stoddert Terrace, 155 Ridge Rd. SE.

Ward 8--Bald Eagle, Martin Luther King Junior Avenue and Joliet Street SE; Barry Farms/Birney, Birney Elementary School, Martin Luther King Junior Avenue and Sumner Road SE; Douglass, 20th Street and Stanton Terrace SE, and Malcolm X, 13th Street and Alabama Avenue SE.
