Arlington County

The following zoning variance requests were filed with Arlington County Aug. 2 through Aug. 22. They are scheduled to be heard by the Board of Zoning Appeals at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 in Room 202 of the County Court House.

EDISON ST. S., 35--Vera R. Cole requested a variance to build a rear addition 18 feet from the rear property line instead of the 25 feet required.

HUDSON ST. N., 1414--Virginia Nelson requested a variance for a second-story addition nine feet from the front property line instead of the 30 feet required.

IRVING ST. N., 606--Clarendon United Methodist Church requested a variance for a sign to be free-standing instead of set against a wall and to place the sign 11 feet from the road instead of the 15 feet required.

SYCAMORE ST. N., 2902 through 2922 (Williamsburg Shopping Center)--Nicholas Kalis, Williamsburg Associates Inc., requested a variance for a sign to be free-standing instead of set against a wall, and to place the sign 18 feet from the road instead of the required 25 feet. (Held over from the last meeting of the Board of Zoning Appeals.)

WILLIAMSBURG BLVD., 4857--Henry and Anita Walker requested a variance for a rear addition 20 feet from the property line instead of the required 25 feet.

WILSON BLVD., 5619--Neil Davis requested a variance for a resubdivision of one lot into two lots with one lot having a minimum lot area of 5,225 square feet instead of the 6,000 square feet required.

20TH ST. S., 933--Cynthia Farris requested a variance for a rear addition 37 feet from the centerline of South Joyce Street instead of the 50 feet required.

23RD ST. N., 2900--Carolyn Settles requested a variance to build a house 31 feet from the center line of North Fillmore Street and 38 feet from the center line of 23rd Street instead of the 50 feet required in each case.
