An Arlington man has been charged with abduction, auto theft and driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with an incident early yesterday morning along Rte. 7 in Falls Church.
The charges were filed against Jerome L. Baker, 27, of the 4600 block of Four Mile Run Road.
According to police, Debra Dillinger, 24, of Springfield had stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Rte. 7 and Glen Forest Drive when a man forced his way into the driver's seat of her rented Lincoln Continental.
Speeding east on Rte. 7, her abductor hit the back of a moped ridden by Hugh Jones, 39, of Falls Church, as Jones was waiting for a light. Jones jumped off the moped just before it was dragged under the car, police said. The suspect kept driving, but lost control, crossed the median and collided head-on with a car driven by Joanne Gallo, 24, of Arlington.
No one was hurt during any of the collisions, police said. All of the vehicles were seriously damaged, however, and two additional charges involving hit-and-run violations were placed against the suspect.
Baker is being held in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center in lieu of $48,000 bond.
