The following zoning variance requests were heard Sept. 6 by the Fairfax County Board of Zoning Appeals:

FRANKLIN PARK RD., 6131--Approved Doris W. Wood's request for a variance to build a detached garage 13 feet from the front lot line instead of the 35 feet required.

TALL OAK CT., 3804--Denied the request of Irving Cassell for a variance for a carport addition four feet from a side lot line instead of the seven feet required. Falls Church

The following zoning variance requests were heard Sept. 8 by the Falls Church Board of Zoning Appeals:

BROAD ST. W., 260--Approved Jeffrey Taylor's application for a variance for Potomac Academy of Hair Design for a sign 21 square feet instead of the maximum 10 square feet allowed and located 10 feet from the curb instead of the required 15 feet, and for a second sign to be erected in a public right of way designated for widening by the major thoroughfare plan.

BROAD ST. W., 1234--Approved Robert Daube's application for a variance to permit a sign to be next to a side property line instead of the 25 feet required.

SHADOW WALK, 316--Col. L.E. Pence withdrew his application for a variance to build a single-family dwelling 20 feet from the property line instead of the 40 feet required.

SPRING ST. S., 104--Continued Ethel P. Steirer's request for a permit for a screened porch to be seven feet from the side property line instead of the 15 feet required, to be discussed at the next hearing.

SPRING ST. S., 122--Approved Dennis Burke's request for a variance for an addition 10 feet from the side property line instead of the 15 feet required.

WEST ST. N., 714--Approved the application of Joseph Sherwood and Kathleen Sykes for a variance for a second-story addition six feet from the side yard property line instead of the 15 feet required and for an enclosed front entrance 25 feet from the front property line instead of the average 32 feet required.
