Two persons were killed in separate hit-and-run accidents in Prince George's County early yesterday morning, county police reported.

Police said William Darnell Watson, 19, of 12700 Lusby La., was struck by a speeding pickup truck in the 7700 block of Old Alexandria Ferry Road in Clinton. He was pronounced dead shortly after 5 a.m. at the Southern Maryland Hospital Center.

Officers said they traced the truck to a nearby apartment complex, where they arrested Ricky Allen Edwards, of 10702 Tyrone Dr. in Upper Marlboro, and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol. He was being held in the County Detention Center yesterday afternoon, with bond set at $5,000.

Police said Watson had been ejected for fighting at a party, and the fight continued outside. Watson was struck as he ran across the road in an effort to escape from the fight, police said.

In a separate hit-and-run accident, a 25-year-old woman was critically injured when she was struck by a car on Allentown Road in Forestville at about 3 a.m., county police said.

They said Deirdre Lynn Morris, of 67th Avenue in Riverdale, had left the Classics nightclub and was crossing Allentown Road, just north of Forestville Road, to get to her car when she was struck by a speeding, small, light-colored car.

Morris, who was dragged about 125 feet, was rushed by helicopter to the Prince George's General Hospital shock-trauma unit where she died at about 11:30 a.m.
