Middleburg's comprehensive plan will be on the Feb. 15 agenda for a vote by the Town Council. According to Town Manager Gerard Rogers, most residents who spoke at the public hearings and who filled out questionnaires sent out by the town indicated they did not want Middleburg's quiet character to change.

"They are essentially concerned about two vacant tracts that are now farmland," Rogers said. "They want the council to allow only the kind of controlled, paced development they've allowed in the past." Rogers said the council can either accept the plan in its current form, which dates to 1972, amend and adopt it, or send it back for more work.

The Middleburg fire department and rescue squad has named 17-year veteran firefighter George Martel Fireman of the Year. The squad named Lynn Holsinger, who has been with the squad a year, as squad member.

The awards were presented at a recent banquet hosted by members of the Ladies Auxiliary and attended by 150 guests and members, a spokesman said.

Kathleen and Kristeen Rind, twins from Middleburg, have been nominated to the 1985 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges.

Kathleen is a merchandising major; Kristeen is majoring in secretarial science. Both are members of the Equitation Club.
