Isadore Feldman, 78, the founder of I. Feldman & Co. food distributors here, died Feb. 13 of cancer at his home in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Mr. Feldman founded the company in 1941 and remained active in the business until he retired and moved to Florida six years ago.
He was born in Russia, came to the United States in 1911 and grew up in Washington. He graduated from the old Central High School and Ben Franklin College.
Mr. Feldman was a member of Optimist International, the Odd Fellows and the Masons. He was a former president of Beth Sholom Congregation in Washington and a former member of the board of directors of Temple Israel in Silver Spring. Mr. Feldman was also a former president of the Greater Washington Food Wholesalers.
Survivors include his wife, Mollie, of West Palm Beach; two daughters, Rona Cohen of Reston and Lois Schwimer of Santa Monica, Calif.; a son, Richard, of Rockville; three brothers, Fred, of Chevy Chase, Frank of Kensington and Max, of Tamarac, Fla.; four sisters, Bertha Spector of Long Beach, N.Y., Tessie Lyon of North Lauderdale, Fla., Sylvia Levin of Chevy Chase and Dorothy Jacobs of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
