A 23-year-old Fairfax County man was killed and three persons were injured yesterday in a head-on collison near Beacon Mall, Fairfax County police said. A 22-year-old Alexandria man has been charged in the incident.
Police said Choudhry M. Tallat, of 3604 Buckman Rd., was driving south on Richmond Highway near Beacon Hill Road about 1:10 p.m. when a car in the northbound lanes struck a signpost in the median, skidded across the median strip and struck Tallat's car.
Tallat was taken to Fairfax Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The driver of the other car, Edgar Vernon Mullens, 22, of 214 E. Luray Ave., was in fair condition at Fairfax Hospital.
Two passengers in Mullens' car, Robert F. Brown, 16, of 16 E. Mason Ave., and Donald E. Finell Jr. 16, of 533 E. Alexandria Ave., both of Alexandria, were in fair condition at area hospitals last night.
Police said Mullens has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the incident. Police said they have not determined if the occupants of the cars were wearing seat belts.
