A Southeast Washington man died of gunshot wounds early yesterday after he became involved in an argument with a group of youths near his home, according to D.C. police.

The victim, Ricky Lee Battle, 21, of 2520 Sheridan Rd. SE, was shot several times in the head and neck, according to the D.C. medical examiner's office. He was taken by ambulance to D.C. General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said they have no suspects in the shooting that occurred about 12:30 a.m.

In an unrelated case, police said they arrested James Edward Chaney, 33, late Friday and charged him in the shooting death of Antonio Glober, 21, last December. Glober was shot to death in what police have described as a drug-related incident at 14th and V streets NW.

Chaney was paroled from a correctional center in Lewisburg, Pa., four months before the shooting. He was arrested Friday after he left an appointment with his parole officer, according to police. Chaney lives at 5021 Eighth St. NW. SE Man Slain During Argument
