POTENTIAL SLOWUPS: Area highway officials report no major obstacles this weekend to drivers heading for the beaches around Ocean City, Md., Virginia Beach, Va., and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. There is road construction work at some sites along the major beach routes, including Rte. 50 in Maryland and I-95 and I-64 in Virginia, but no work is scheduled during the weekend. There is some congestion reported along North Carolina Rte. 158 enroute to the Outer Banks, at Barco because of bridge reconstruction, and between Coinjock and Grandy due to road repairs. Major traffic backups can occur because of accidents in the Hampton Roads Tunnel, and the periodic raising of the Kent Narrows drawbridge, located just east of the Bay Bridge on Rte. 50 in Maryland.
