A Falls Church man was arrested minutes after a holdup at an Arlington County bank yesterday after a citizen pointed him out to police as a suspect, Arlington police reported.

Robert Hope Wilson, 29, of 7747 Trevino La. was charged with robbing a branch of the First American Bank at 920 N. Taylor St. about 4:45 p.m.

Arlington police spokesman Tom Bell said Wilson is under investigation in three other bank holdups in Arlington and four bank robberies and one attempt in Fairfax County, including two holdups on Monday -- one at First Virginia Bank and Trust, 7393 Lee Hwy., and the other at Guaranty Bank and Trust, 7267 Arlington Blvd.

Police said yesterday's robbery at First American Bank was committed by an armed man who walked into the bank and gave a teller a note.

The man fled on foot and was followed by a person who saw him changing clothes nearby, police said.

As Arlington police Officer Steve Missouri was interviewing the witness a short time later, the witness pointed out a man walking across a nearby parking lot as a suspect. Missouri arrested Wilson in a nearby store, police said, and an undetermined amount of money and a handgun were recovered.
