If you're the fortunate holder of Redskins season tickets, you might consider taking a toy or two to the stadium on Sunday afternoon -- not to distract you from the exploits of 'Skins substitute quarterback Jay Schroeder or Cincinnati Bengals quarterback (and former University of Maryland star) Boomer Esiason. The toys would be for the current round of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's annual Toys for Tots campaign to benefit the underprivileged, and RFK Stadium is a major collection point.

Since 1947, the Marine reservists have been soliciting toys, and this year continues the campaign. Space prevents Metro Scene from running the long list of collection points.

But there are a few we can mention: in the District, the WRC-TV studio on Nebraska Avenue near Ward Circle and the J.W. Marriott Hotel at 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW; in Maryland, Montgomery and Landover malls and the Bethesda Naval Hospital; all Northern Virginia regional branches of First Federal and Continental Federal thrifts, and all regional branches of Coldwell Banker Realtors.

At Stan's Restaurant and Lounge on Vermont Avenue NW, we're told, all toys collected will go -- at the suggestion of Sen. John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.) -- to kids in the flood-devastated West Virginia towns of Petersburg and Moorefield.

Let's be off to the toy store!
