Katherine Morrison, president of Alive! (Alexandrians Involved Ecumenically), recently was presented with the keys to a new pickup truck donated by Jack Taylor, president of Alexandria Toyota. Alive! is an ecumenical group representing 37 churches, synagogues and faiths that helps needy Alexandria residents by distributing clothing, furniture and nonperishable food. J. David Holden, president and chief executive officer of The Bank of Alexandria, has been named to a three-year term as president of the Northern Virginia Community College Educational Foundation. Established as a charitable, nonprofit corporation to promote the growth of the college, the foundation provides funding for college programs, educational loans and scholarships for students, and gifts, grants and equipment for the college. Realtor Bob Bryant of Cedar Road in Alexandria has been honored by the Northern Virginia Board of Realtors for helping members of the community find homes under a federal government program that provides rental assistance for individuals who might not otherwise qualify as tenants.
Bryant helped 80 families of low- and moderate-income complete forms and meet other requirements to obtain rentals under the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Section 8 program. Football Player Chosen
Orson Williams of St. Stephen's School in Alexandria has been named for the second consecutive year to the Interstate Athletic Conference all-conference football team. Benton G. and Jennie Milster of Del Ray Avenue West in Alexandria recently donated an 1840 rosewood Chickering parlor grand piano to the Alexandria Library's Lloyd House. Allan Robbins, librarian of the Lloyd House collection, which includes rare books, maps and other documents pertaining to the history of Alexandria and the state of Virginia, said the piano was in excellent condition and would be used to provide a musical background for receptions and library functions.
