*Come see a championship wheelchair basketball team in action. On Jan. 26 at 1 p.m., the Washington Bullets Wheelchair Basketball Team meets the Richmond Rimriders in a regional game. The game will take place at Alexandria's George Washington Junior High School, at the intersection of Mount Vernon Avenue and Braddock Road a few blocks from the Braddock Metro station. *The Hispanic News Media Association of Washington, D.C. is sponsoring a writing contest for all high school students in the metropolitan area.

Students in ninth through 12th grades are eligible to enter the contest by writing a 750-word essay profiling an important person in the Hispanic community.

Awards of $200, $150 and $100 will be made in both English and Spanish writing categories. The two top winners will then compete in a national contest sponsored by the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. National winners will be flown to the National Hispanic Media Conference April 23-27 in Miami, Fla. The deadline for entries is Jan. 31.
