A 52-year-old Fairfax County woman was killed Sunday night when she was struck by a car on South Kings Highway, and a 34-year-old man who was the victim of a weekend hit-and-run accident died yesterday afternoon, county police said.
Officials said Maria M. Sandy of 4450 Flintstone Rd. in the Alexandria area was walking about 6:30 p.m. in the 6700 block of South Kings Highway when she was hit.
Police said Sandy was walking on the road and was dressed in black when she was struck. Sandy was declared dead on arrival at Fairfax Hospital, police said.
No charges were filed against the 37-year-old Alexandria area woman who was driving the car, police said.
An incident on Friday had left Norman Brissette, 34, of Prince George, Va., in critical condition at Mount Vernon Hospital after he was struck in the 9400 block of Richmond Highway at about 7:30 p.m. while inspecting his car following a 10-car accident, police said.
Brissette, whose left leg was severed and who suffered head injuries, died yesterday, they said.
Police said Marine Lance Cpl. Richard H. Lewis, 25, of Quantico was arrested Saturday and charged with felony hit and run.
