A search continued yesterday for three juveniles who robbed and sexually assaulted two boys and held one victim's head under water Tuesday in an isolated wooded area of Rock Creek Park, U.S. Park Police said yesterday.

The victims, 11 and 13, were playing by the creek under the Connecticut Avenue Bridge, near the Edgewater Stables, when three other youths accosted them. Park Police said the robbery and assault occurred about 5 p.m. and that the 13-year-old's head was held under water.

"We have no identifiable suspects and no new information that we are willing to release at this time," said Maj. Richard Cusick, a Park Police spokesman, who held a news conference yesterday near the site of the assault.

Cusick said the assailants appeared to be "a little bit older and a little bigger than the victims." The victims did not know their attackers, he said.

"The primary motive right now appears to be sexual assault," Cusick said.

Park Police, working with D.C. police from the 2nd District, focused their attentions yesterday on the Kalorama neighborhood near Belmont Street, where the three assailants were tracked by helicopter and a K-9 team Tuesday evening.
