*The Virginia State Division of the American Association of University Women will sponsor a special international relations program entitled "The U.S. Commission to Improve the United Nations: Strength? Successes? Survival?" at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 19, in the Falls Church Community Center, 223 Little Falls Rd., Falls Church.

*On May 23, 100 photography students of South Lakes High School will spread across Reston to capture on film the people and scenes that best represent the spirit of Reston. They will be wearing T-shirts with a "Focus on Reston" logo, and hope to make this venture a successful offshoot of the May 2 national photographers expedition, "One Day in the Life of America." The best 100 shots will be mounted and displayed in the Reston Community Center in June.
The students are seeking public support to cover their expenses for film, photo paper, developing chemicals and T-shirts. All donations should be made payable to South Lakes High School.
*The Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad will hold an open house Sunday in the squad building at 143 Catocin Cir. SE, Leesburg. Activities will include a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; a demonstration of Washington Hospital Center's "Medstar 1" Medivac helicopter at 1 p.m.; a K-9 demonstration presented by the Leesburg Police Department at 2 p.m.; an Advanced Life Support demonstration at 2:45 p.m., and a vehicle extrication demonstration at 3 p.m.
Members of the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Department will operate a fire prevention booth and a crime prevention presentation will be made by the Leesburg Police Department. For further infomation, call 703-777-8088.
*Virginia residents 18 years of age or older with expertise in children's art, preschool music and art, ballroom dance, gymnastics, adult crafts, aerobics or dog obedience are needed to teach both day and evening classes for the Fairfax County Department of Recreation and Community Services. *The 3610 Shoppe will hold its seventh annual Scholarship Fashion Show Sunday at the Sheraton National Hotel, Washington Boulevard and Columbia Pike in Arlington.
