*The driest spring on record and unusually high weekend demand for water has prompted the Fairfax County Water Authority to ask its 150,000 customers to limit lawn watering to weekdays and one day on weekends.

Customers with odd number street addresses are asked to voluntarily limit weekend watering to Saturdays, and customers with even numbers are requested to water on Sundays.

*Fresh produce from local farmers is available at the Fairfax County Extension Farmers' Market in Fairfax and the Mount Vernon Market in Alexandria. Vegetables, fruit, eggs, potted plants, cut flowers and honey are among the items for sale. Strawberries, vegetable plants and potted flowers will be in peak supply through the end of June.

The Mount Vernon Market, located in front of the governmental center at the intersection of Parkers Lane and Sherwood Hall Lane, is open every Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market in Fairfax is located in front of the Massey Building at Rtes. 123 and 236, and operates from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday.
