ANC 1B will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the community room at 2801 14th St. NW.

FOGGY BOTTOM-WEST END

ANC 2A will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Mary's Court apartments, 725 24th St. NW.

DUPONT CIRCLE

ANC 2B will meet at 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas Church, 1772 Church St. NW. There will be a discussion on D.C. statehood.

At the May 27 meeting of ANC 2B, the commissioners voted to support a Board of Zoning Adjustment application by Johns Hopkins University to enclose a patio at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, 1740 Massachusetts Ave. NW. The commissioners voted to support a liquor license application to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board for Joanna's 1819 Club, 1819 M St. NW, as long as no nude dancing is permitted on the premises. Currently there is no nude dancing at the bar.

The commission has set a deadline of June 6 for residents of ANC 2C to contact the ANC office to indicate their preference for a precinct voting location: either St. Thomas Church or the Church of the Pilgrims, 22nd and P streets NW. If there is inadequate response, the commissioners will vote for the voting place to remain at the Church of the Pilgrims. To indicate a voting location preference, call the ANC office at 659-2275.

CLEVELAND PARK-WOODLEY PARK

At the May 25 meeting of ANC 3C, the commissioners approved a $500 grant to Friends of the Macomb Street Playground to buy new playground equipment. The playground is at the corner of Macomb and 34th streets NW.

Also at the meeting, the commissioners selected Phil Mendelson as the ANC secretary and Sam Friedman as treasurer.

The ANC has an opening for a paid part-time staff assistant. Applicants must live in Ward 3. Anyone interested in the job should call ANC 3C Chairwoman Peggy Robin at 686-9132.

SPRING VALLEY-PALISADES

ANC 3D will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Palisades Recreation Center, Dana Street and Sherrier Place NW, to hear citizen comments on the regulation of home offices in the District.

The D.C. Board of Zoning Adjustment has proposed amending the portion of the city code governing home offices, including how many business deliveries can be made to a home each week and how many employes a home office may have. ANC 3D must submit its recommendation on the proposed amendments to the zoning board by June 15.

Alice Vetter of Ministries United to Support Community Life Endeavors (MUSCLE) Inc. will discuss how to convert apartments to cooperative housing. Fred Dorsey, head of the D.C. Office of the People's Counsel, will give an update on utility rates in the District.

BLOOMINGDALE-EDGEWOOD-SHAW

ANC 5C will meet at 7:30 p.m. June 11 at Noyes Elementary School, 10th and Franklin streets NE.

CAPITOL HILL-NORTHEAST

ANC 6A will meet at 7 p.m. today at Trinidad Baptist Church, 1611 Benning Rd. NE. Joyce Thomas of Child Protection Services will discuss child protection programs in the area. There will be an update on the planned $3.8 million renovation of Eastern Market, a farmers' market located on Seventh Street between North Carolina Avenue and C Street SE.

A representative of the United House of Prayer will discuss the Family Day Bazaar to be held this summer by that organization.

CAPITOL HILL-SOUTHEAST

ANC 6B will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the ANC office, 921 Pennsylvania Ave. SE.

The commissioners will consider an application to the D.C. Department of Public Works by the U.S. Marine Corps to place a guardhouse and vehicle barrier on a public sidewalk at the entrance to the enlisted men's barracks at 900 I St. SE. The guardhouse and barrier, which the Marine Corps says are needed to provide better security to the barracks, would occupy all but a three-foot-wide section of the sidewalk.

Gamelia Jackson, acting fire chief of the seventh battalion, will discuss the need for improved fire and emergency services in the ANC 6B area. A discussion will follow.

Representatives of the Trial Lawyers Association will discuss the civil and property rights of the elderly.

ANACOSTIA-FAIRLAWN

The June edition of the ANC 6C newsletter, The Advisor, is available at the ANC office in room 300 of the Professional Building, 2041 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE.

Commissioner Frank Jackson will sponsor a meeting for residents who live in Single Member District 2 of ANC 6C at 7 tonight at the Therapeutic Recreation Center, 3030 G St. SE. Everyone who lives within the SMD boundaries of Minnesota Avenue, C and Third streets, DuBois Place, Nelson Street and the Anacostia River is invited to attend the meeting.

ANC 6C Commissioner Jacqueline Shillings was awarded the Hagan Public Service Award on May 13. This is the second year Shillings, a nurse at D.C. General Hospital, has won the award for outstanding public service in the community.

NAYLOR-DUPONT

ANC 7B will meet at 7:30 p.m. June 11 at Ryland Epworth United Methodist Church, Branch Avenue and S Street SE.

DEANWOOD-BURRVILLE

ANC 7E will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Memorial Methodist Church, 4625 G St. SE. A representative of Key Largo Development Co., which will develop the old Benning Elementary School site at 41st and East Capitol streets SE, will discuss those plans.

The new commissioner for Single Member District 1 of ANC 7E is Veronica Wade. No one ran for that position last fall. The D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics recently declared Wade to be the write-in candidate with the most votes in that SMD.
