Broaden your fashion horizons by attending an educational Gala Africana Fashion Show at 7 p.m. Saturday. The show will take place at the Thomas Jefferson Community Theatre, 125 S. English as a Second Language Classes for Adults will begin the week of Sept. 14. Day and evening classes will be taught by staffers of the Office of Adult and Community Education for Fairfax County public schools, at 17 locations throughout the county. Placement testing and registration of new students will be held Sept. 3 and 8. A limited number of free spaces in certain classes will be available. The City of Alexandria Ad Hoc Anti-Drug Task Force will hear citizen testimony from 7 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 24 in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 301 King St., Alexandria. Residents are invited to comment and provide suggestions on substance abuse and related problems. Written comments and suggestions should be submitted before the hearing date, by mail or in person, to the Alexandria Division of Substance Abuse, Suite 1, 206 N.
