Women's Hall of Fame Set
The D.C. Commission for Women has announced a campaign to honor outstanding professional or volunteer contributions to the city by establishing a Women's Hall of Fame.
Nominees must be female and current D.C. residents who have lived in the city for at least 10 years. Submissions must be mailed by Dec. 31 to the Commission for Women, Reeves Center, Room N-354, 2000 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C., 20009. For further information, call Wanda Diggs, 939-8083.
City residents have until the end of business hours Monday to register to vote in the Nov. 3 elections. In addition to school board contests for one at-large seat and races in wards 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7, voters will be asked to decide ballot initiatives that would require deposits on beverage containers and would declare public education as the city's "highest priority."
Bilingual Tutors Needed
The National City Christian Church and D.C. public schools need bilingual tutors for schoolchildren. The school system program teaches students in reading and mathematics at all grade levels. To volunteer with the church, call 797-0101; with the schools, 724-4400.
