BETHESDA

LANDON LA., 6008 -- Granted a variance by William B. Dale to enclose a walkway at a residence 22 feet from the rear property line instead of the minimum 25 feet required.

NEWPORT AVE., 5121 -- Granted variance requests by Mr. and Mrs. Michael V. Bartlett to build an addition to a house that does not conform to current zoning laws because of its location on the lot. Any addition to such a structure requires a variance.

OLD GEORGETOWN RD., 9305 -- Granted a variance request by Robert J. Militana to allow a house to remain six feet from a side property line instead of the minimum eight feet required.

OLD GEORGETOWN RD., 9309 -- Granted a variance request by Robert J. Militana to allow a house to remain 2 1/2 feet from a side property line instead of the minimum eight feet required. Militana was granted an additional variance to leave a total of 15 1/2 feet of open space in both side yards instead of the minimum 18 feet required.

CHEVY CHASE

CHATHAM RD., 7706 -- Granted a variance request by Ruth E. Sigler and George Knapp to build a deck onto a residence that will extend 6.9 feet into a side yard instead of the maximum three feet allowed.

GAITHERSBURG

QUEENAIR DR., 8021 -- Granted a variance request by DePerini Metal Fabricators to build an addition to a building 21 feet from the street instead of the minimum 25 feet required.

POOLESVILLE

WHITES FERRY RD., 21429 -- Granted a variance request by Susan E. Womble to build a one-story addition onto a house eight feet from a side property line instead of the minimum 12 feet required.

POTOMAC

BRICKYARD RD., 8514 -- Granted a variance request by P.S. and Carl H. Helman to allow an existing deck to extend 10.8 feet into the rear yard instead of the maximum nine feet allowed.

BUCKHANNON DR., 8500 -- Granted a variance request by George Michael Rados to build a carport along a side property line instead of the minimum eight feet from the line as required.

FALLS AND RIVER ROADS -- Granted a special exception by Placemakers Inc. to build a housing facility for the elderly and handicapped in a residential zone.

SILVER SPRING

AMHERST AVE., 10707 -- Granted a variance request by Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. Kreitlow to build an addition onto a house that does not conform to current zoning laws because of its location on the lot. Any addition to such a structure requires a variance.

BLUE VALLEY DR., 2405 -- Granted a variance request by John A. Glaab to build a garage onto a house four feet from a side property line instead of the minimum eight feet required. The board granted an additional variance request by Glaab to leave a total of 16 feet of open space in both side yards instead of the minimum 25 feet required.

HUNTLEY PLACE, 10705 -- Granted a variance request by Vivian E. Bess to allow a recently-built carport roof to remain five feet, six inches from a side property line instead of the minimum seven feet required. Bess obtained a valid building permit for the roof, but the roof is larger than was allowed by the permit.

MEADOWOOD DR., 12606 -- Granted a special exception request by Henry Paul Ruff to operate a separate apartment within a private residence.

RED OAK DR., 1500 -- Granted a variance request by Samuel H. and Claudia S. Adams to build a gazebo and a deck that will be three feet closer to the street than allowed.

TAMARACK RD., 12908 -- Granted a variance request by Daniel J. and D.B. Snider to build a carport two feet from a side property line instead of the minimum eight feet required. The board granted an additional variance request to leave a total of 12 feet of open space in both side yards instead of the minimum 25 feet required.
