BETHESDA

BEAM CT., 5605 -- Denied a variance request by Maria T. Hanagan and James B. Degolia to operate a separate apartment within a private residence.

POOKS HILL RD., 5400 -- Granted a modification to an existing special exception to permit Linden Hill Associates to renovate a tennis club in a residential zone.

SANGAMORE RD., 5310 -- Granted a special exception request by Brenda and Morris Zusman to operate an apartment within a private residence.

CHEVY CHASE

WISCONSIN AVE., 5555 -- Granted variance requests by Saks Fifth Avenue to build an addition to the store that will be used to house escalators. A variance is required for the addition because it will increase the floor space of the building beyond the limit allowed. The height of the building will not change with the addition.

WISCONSIN AVE., 6050 -- Granted a variance request by Concord Hill School to operate a private school in a church building in a residential zone.

GAITHERSBURG

ROUTE 124 AND LINDBERGH DRIVE -- Granted a special exception request by Shell Oil Co. to build and operate a gas station. All gas stations require special exceptions.

ROCKVILLE

CREEK SHORE DR., 4815 -- Granted a variance request by Regina Hilley Christian to allow a carport to remain adjacent to a side property line instead of being moved the minimum seven feet from the line as required.

POTOMAC

GAINSBOROUGH RD., 11311 -- Granted a variance request by Marilyn Ehrlich to build an addition to a house 20 feet from the front property line instead of the minimum 30 feet required.

HARNESS TRAIL, 8716 -- Denied a special exception request by Mary S. Rose to operate a travel agency out of a residence.

TUCKERMAN LA., 8833 -- Denied a variance request by Dale R. Ray to build a sun room onto a house 15 feet from the rear property line instead of the minimum 25 feet from the line as required.

SILVER SPRING

BARN RIDGE DR., 17005 -- Granted a variance request by Colter Brinkley to build a swimming pool in a side yard instead of in the rear yard as required.

FOREST GROVE DR., 9716 -- Denied a variance request by Lynne K. Hodges to allow a fence to remain in the side yard instead of being moved to the rear yard as required.

PIPING ROCK DR., 4 -- Granted a variance request by Alfonso V. and Sylvia L. Valentino to build a carport in the front yard instead of in the rear yard as required.
