The first annual Holiday Craft Show sponsored by the City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation Department will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Fairfax High School. More than 170 vendors will be on hand for early Christmas shoppers, as well as Santa Claus for the kids. Refreshments will be available and parking and admission to the fair are free. The annual Lewinsville Senior Center fall bazaar, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in McLean, will feature crafts, baked goods, clothes and white elephant items. Purchase tickets before Saturday for the Falls Church Holiday Ball, set for 8:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Community Center. The ball will feature Willey Jolley and Company, a critically acclaimed four-piece jazz and dance ensemble. Dress will be formal but festive, and area residents who attend should wear their dancing shoes. Refreshments will include spirits and hors d'oeuvres. Tickets cost $15 and are available at the Community Center at 223 Little Falls St., and from the Jaycees and other civic organizations. Volunteers are needed to fill a number of positions at the Northwest Center for Community Mental Health in Reston. Case aides to provide companionship to the elderly and workshop coleaders and group coleaders are needed to volunteer one or more hours a week for the Older Adults Program. Appointment, information and referral specialists also are needed to work closely with the crisis intervention team for a few hours weekly. The center is looking for a statistician to collect and interpret data received by the center for two hours a week. No experience is necessary for any of the positions and the center will train. Buy a ticket for a doll house raffle to benefit the James C. MacDonald Fine Arts Scholarship fund and possibly win a miniature three-story Victorian Federal home, along with a gift certificate to purchase additional miniature furnishings. The doll house has hardwood floors, is fully electrified and contains some furnishings, including an Austrian crystal chandelier. The drawing will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 at the close of the McLean Community Center holiday crafts bazaar at the National Wildlife Federation, 8925 Leesburg Pike, Vienna.
