Employer of the Year Named

The Alexandria Business and Professional Woman's Club has given its Employer of the Year award to Technology Applications, Inc. (TAI).

The annual award is given to the Alexandria-based company that best promotes and protects the rights of female employes. TAI supplies defense systems management, information systems, ship alteration and installation and integrated logistics support to the Department of Defense, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency. Of TAI's 850 employees, 340 are women.

Program Volunteer Honored

Theresa Maybury, a volunteer with the Alexandria Victim Witness Program has been honored for outstanding service in crime victim assistance.

She was presented with a plaque at the annual conference of the Virginia Network for Victims and Witnesses of Crime.

For 2 1/2 years, Maybury has volunteered for more than 1,000 hours as a crime victim advocate, providing information about the criminal justice process and accompanying witnesses to court during trials. She also has testified before the Virginia General Assembly and the State Crime Commission on the importance of victim assistance services and the use of victims' statements at sentencing. And she has conducted workshops on crime victimization throughout the state.

Barbershop Quartet Wins

Copyright'86, a barbershop quartet comprising members from the Arlington and Alexandria chapters of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Singing in America, Inc., has won the Mid-Atlantic district quartet championship held in Ocean City, Md.

The contest featured 29 quartets from the Mid-Atlantic states. The members of Copyright'86, which was formed in 1986, are: John Casey, Bill Colosimo, Mike Wallen, and Steve White. Other participants in the contest included Riverside Assembly and Portsiders, Alexandria quartets.
