The Howard County Planning Board on Nov. 12 made the following decisions on development plans and zoning requests. For more information, call 992-2352.

All SAINTS AND NORTH LAUREL ROADS -- The board approved 4 to 0 plans to place a traffic signal at this intersection.

RTE. 1 NEAR WHISKEY BOTTOM ROAD -- The board upheld 4 to 0 the decision of the planning office director not to rezone 1.6 acres. Rte. One Joint Venture Partnership had wanted to change the zoning from residential development to business development for office construction.

RTE. 40 AND ST. JOHNS LANE -- The board deferred action to the Nov. 25 meeting on a request by Mobil Oil Corp. to alter plans for a gasoline service station. The new plans include a self service gasoline station, a convenience store and a car wash. A request to place a canopy one foot from the street instead of the minimum 30 feet required also was deferred.

RTE. 97 SOUTH OF MCKENDREE ROAD -- The board decided 4 to 0 to recommend approval of a request by Louis E. and Davina C. Placella to operate an antique shop and a greenhouse-garden store in a nursery, using two barns and a greenhouse.

The request with the planning board's recommendation now will go before the Board of Zoning Appeals for a final decision.

RTE. 108 NORTH OF LARK BROWN ROAD -- The board approved 4 to 0 the final development plans by Howard Research and Development Land Co. for the second and fourth phases of single-family home construction on two parcels of land,67.2 acres and 19.9 acres, in the Village of Long Reach and to set aside two parcels for parks, one 34.4 acres and the other 21.6 acres.
