Officials at Dulles International, National and Baltimore-Washington International airports suggest that travelers avoid traffic and parking headaches by leaving their cars at home and using public transportation.
Motorists determined to brave the holiday crush are urged to use the airports' satellite lots for parking or dropping off passengers.
Airport officials offered the following advice and information on the alternatives:
DULLES AND NATIONAL
To avoid roadway congestion and delays at National, drop off passengers in parking lot 2 or 3, or in the two satellite parking areas, where travelers can be picked up by a free shuttle to the terminals. Motorists dropping off passengers can park free for 20 minutes in lot 2 or 3, or for 10 minutes in a satellite lot. At Dulles, the grace period is 20 minutes in the daily and satellite lots.

For scheduled bus or van service to Dulles or National, call 685-1400.

National is served by Metro's Yellow and Blue lines. Dulles offers bus service from the West Falls Church station on Metro's Orange Line.
Expect the daily lots to fill early, so avoid delays by going directly to the satellite lots.
