The Council of Churches of Greater Washington and other community organizations will sponsor free Thanksgiving dinners today, tomorrow and Saturday.

Meals will be served today at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, 2498 Alabama Ave. SE, from noon to 2 p.m.; Calvary Baptist Church, 755 Eighth St. NW, from noon to 3 p.m.; House of Imagene, 214 P St. NW, from noon to 3 p.m.; Progressive Baptist Church, 1201 F St. NE, from noon to 2 p.m.; Purity Baptist Church, 1325 Maryland Ave. NE, from noon to 2 p.m.; St. Phillips Episcopal Church, 2001 14th St. NE, from noon to 2 p.m.; St. Stephen & The Incarnation, 16th and Newton streets NW, from noon to 2 p.m.; and The Salvation Army, 1318 Ninth St. NW, from noon to 2 p.m.

Mount Olive Baptist Church, Park Road Community Church and People's United Church of Christ will prepare meals that will be delivered to the homebound. Cannon Baptist Church will prepare meals to be delivered to homebound senior citizens from noon to 2 p.m., and Solid Rock Full Gospel Baptist Church will prepare meals to be delivered at 6:30 p.m. to Blair Shelter at 611 I St. NE.

St. Stephen & The Incarnation will also serve meals from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday, and Lane C.M.E. will deliver meals to the homebound from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Council of Churches of Greater Washington member churches also sponsored meals for the homeless and needy last Saturday, Tuesday and yesterday. -- Eric Charles May
