One man was killed and three others were wounded last night in Southeast Washington after they were hit with a spray of gunfire, according to D.C. police.
The dead man, who was not identified until relatives could be notified, was found sprawled near the entrance of an apartment at 49 Forrester St. SE. shortly before 9 p.m. with a gunshot wound to the head. Police said two of the wounded men, whom they did not identify, were shot in the legs, and the third was shot in the hip. The three were taken to Greater Southeast Community Hospital.
Witnesses told police that the gunfire came from a gray automobile driving east down the steep hill in front of the two-story red-brick apartment building. Police recovered more than a half dozen fired gun shells from the street, and three bullets were lodged in the fender of a gold car parked in front of the building where the dead man was found.
Police said the shootings appeared to be drug-related.
The dead man was the victim of the city's 208th homicide of the year and the 61st in the 7th District, which is bordered by the Potomac and Anacostia rivers, and Pennsylvania and Southern avenues.
