A.U. PARK-FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS

ANC 3E will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the ANC office, 4025 Chesapeake St. NW. The purpose of the meeting is to review recent negotiations between the residents of ANC 3E and officials of American University on the proposed A.U. master plan.

ANC 3E is now considering grants for historical studies in the A.U. Park and Friendship Heights neighborhoods. Interested persons or organizations should call the ANC office at 244-0800.

The regular monthly meeting of ANC 3E scheduled for Jan. 14 has been reschedueld for 8 p.m. Jan. 21 at the ANC office.

ANACOSTIA-FAIRLAWN

ANC 6C will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the community room of the Professional Building, 2041 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE.

A representative of the D.C. Bar Community Education Project will discuss employment law, and a representative of Sasha Bruce Youthworks will discuss youth services offered by that nonprofit organization.

At the Dec. 7 meeting of ANC 6C, D.C. Chief of Police Maurice Turner listened to citizen's complaints about alleged police brutality in the ANC 6C area. Turner asked the ANC to set up a committee to compile the complaints and submit them to his office in written form so he could act on each one individually.

The ANC has since formed a seven-member committee to hear citizen's complaints about problems with the police, or about crime and related police matters in the area. To contact the committee call the ANC office at 889-6600.

MARSHALL HTS.-CAPITOL VIEW

On Dec. 10, ANC 7E sent a letter to D.C. Mayor Marion Barry asking that a moratorium be placed on the D.C. Alcoholic Beverage Control Board's granting of liquor licenses in the city for one month. "We feel that the awarding of {liqor} licenses at this time is an enormous waste of time and money to the citizens and the ABC Board," the letter said. The commissioners said they want the moratorium enacted until the D.C. City Council votes on proposed legislation that would change the review process for liquor licenses by the ABC Board.

The commissioners remind the community that a building permit has been issued for construction of a new church at 5700 E. Capitol St. NE. Anyone with comments for or against the church construction should call the ANC office at 582-6360.

At the Dec. 8 meeting of ANC 7E, the commissioners approved the following grants to nonprofit community organizations: $500 to the Whitman-Walker Clinic, at 2335 18th St. NW, to pay for services to AIDS victims, and $200 to Martha's Table, at 2124 14th St. NW, to help pay for meals and other services to the homeless and poor children.

CONGRESS HEIGHTS

ANC 8C will meet at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 6 at the ANC office, 3125 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE. The meeting has been rescheduled from the normal Jan. 13th meeting day.
