The holiday feasts are over, but it may be weeks before anyone feels like cooking a meal at home again. The following is a list of local carryouts, where you can get anything from split pea soup to chestnut mousse cake.

The C&B Deli, 8457 Baltimore National Pike, Ellicott City. 465-4499. Hours: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Cash and checks only. No alcohol. C&B offers sandwiches, subs and salads including potato, shrimp, chicken, pasta and antipasto. For dessert try the cannelloni or rum cake. Currently, there is no place to sit down in the deli, but the management is planning to create a space where the customers can eat in.
The Bun Penny, 1364 Columbia Mall, Little Patuxent Pkwy., Columbia. 730-4100. Hours: 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Cards: V, MC, AE, cash and checks. Wine, beer and liquor available. There is no place to eat in, but there are seating areas in the mall.
The Bun Penny is a gourmet deli with a wide variety of specialty sandwiches, including the turkey breast that is mesquite smoked on the premises. Salads range from potato to steamed shrimp to a pasta, mozzarella and sun-dried tomato combination. Try blondies, brownies, cakes and cartons of ice cream for dessert.
The Canopy, 9319 Baltimore National Pike, across from the Chatham Mall, Ellicott City. 465-5718. Hours: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Cash and checks only. No alcohol. Barbecue sandwiches are the specialty of the house: shredded open pit beef or chicken, or slices of barbecue beef cooked to order. Also served barbecue style are quarter or half chickens and full or half slabs of pork ribs.
Get one of The Canopy's homemade soups such as crab, onion, split pea and chili. Side orders of homemade cole slaw and potato salad are available, as well as ocean fries: fried, hand-cut potatoes served plain or with salt and vinegar. No desserts. Customers can dine in at one of five tables.
The Dauville, 8167 Main St., Ellicott City. 461-0030. Hours: 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Cards: MC, V, AE, DC, and cash or checks. Nonalcoholic beer and wine available. Start off with one of the daily special soups, or the loster bisque or onion soups that are served every day. Sandwiches range from pastrami and corned beef to shrimp salad or pate, and come with a side order of potato salad or cole slaw.
For dessert, choose from an assortment of pastries, creme caramel or chocolate mousse, or the Grand Marnier, chestnut mousse or chocolate raspberry cakes. Customers can sit at one of the four tables inside, or outside on the porch during the summer.
