PARADE: The Ward 8 Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Parade at 9 a.m. begins at Birney Elementary School, Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Sumner Road SE.

CEREMONY: The District's official observance begins at 10 a.m. at the Washington Convention Center, 900 Ninth St. NW.

OBSERVANCE: The City of Alexandria observance begins at 10 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 7836 Fordson Rd.

MEMORIAL program will be held in Vienna at the First Baptist Church, 450 Orchard St. NW, beginning at 10 a.m.

"O KING," concert with works by Lawrence Moss, Luciano Berio, Hale Smith and Jeffrey Mumford, will be presented at 8 p.m., Frances and Armand Hammer Auditorium, Corcoran Gallery of Art, 17th Street and New York Avenue NW.

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. CONVOCATION: The third annual ceremony will be sponsored by George Washington University, with festival of choirs, awards presentation and food and clothing drive, 7:30 p.m., Lisner Auditorium, 730 21st St. NW.

LUNCHEON to express support for the struggle to end apartheid in South Africa will begin at noon at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1500 Ninth St. NW. Reservations required. 926-0045.

"THE DREAM: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow," a celebration sponsored by the Martin Luther King Church and the Reston Community Center, with panel discussions, trivia quiz show, dance performance by the Reston Institute for the Arts and gospel music, will be 1 to 8 p.m., Reston Community Center, 2310 Colts Neck Rd.

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY PROGRAM, sponsored by the City of Rockville and the Rockville Chamber of Commerce, will be noon to 2 p.m., Rockville City Hall, Maryland Avenue and Vinson Street.
