A 17-year-old Fairfax County girl died and five persons were injured in a two-car collision Saturday night on Little River Turnpike, Fairfax police said yesterday.

Jennifer Hauenstein of 3661 Morningside La. was pronounced dead on arrival at Fairfax Hospital from injuries received when she was thrown from a car in which she was a passenger. The car was struck by another car shortly before 9 p.m. as it turned left from Little River Turnpike onto Guinea Road, police said.

The driver was identified as Michael Southern, 18, of the 4900 block of Red Fox Drive in Burke. He was listed in fair condition at Fairfax Hospital.

Wahid Avawi, 21, of 3212 Gallows Rd., Annandale, the driver of the other car, was listed in fair condition at Fairfax Hospital. Shawn Van Cleave, 27, of 3204 Shadwick Place, Fairfax, a passenger in Avawi's car, was in fair condition. Avawi's car was eastbound on Little River Turnpike, police said.

Two Burke residents were treated and released: Ellen E. Bruns, 17, of the 4900 block of Gloxinia Court and Troy Cahill 18, of the 5000 block of Fleming Drive. Each was a passenger in Southern's car. No charges were filed, and the accident was being investigated, police said.
