Compete for any of 150 trophies at the karate tournament Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park, 14300 Featherstone Rd., Woodbridge. Spectators are welcome to attend the class C tournament, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and to watch karate enthusiasts compete for national points in the Professional Karate League. Participants must be at least 8 years old and can enter up to three martial arts events and 48 competition levels based on belt rank and age. Events include kata, kumite and karate with weapons. Registration is $15 for two events or $20 for three. Admission for spectators is $2 for adults and $1 for children under 12. Free DASH shuttle buses to the George Washington Birthday Parade in Alexandria will be available Monday. Starting at noon, buses will carry passengers from the Hoffman Building parking lot, just off Telegraph Road, to the area of the parade and return to the lot regularly until 4 p.m. The departure point is accessible from the Eisenhower station on Metro's Yellow Line. Backstage and off-stage volunteer helpers are needed for three productions by the Kinney and Company Youth Theatre in Alexandria: "The Frog Prince" (March 4 and 5), "Annie" (April 15, 16, 22 and 23) and "The Wiz" (May 13, 14, 20 and 21).
