D.C. police released the identities yesterday of two women who were slain in execution-style shootings in view of four children Saturday night in a Northwest apartment.
Shardeen Britt, 19, was found dead in the bedroom of the apartment at 1436 Meridian Place NW, where four women had been shot, police said. The other woman fatally shot was identified as Urcella O'Connor, 21. O'Connor was taken to Washington Hospital Center shortly after the 7:30 p.m. shooting and died at the hospital. Both victims were from Kingston, Jamaica, police said. One of the women was four months pregnant, but police would not say which one.
Police declined to release the identities of the two women who survived the shooting, citing safety concerns.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for Marlin Chin, 22, also of Jamaica, in connection with the shooting. They also are seeking three other men believed to have entered the recently renovated apartment Saturday night.
The four men are believed to have shot one of the women immediately, police said. The men then tied up the remaining three women in the bedroom and began shooting them in front of the children, who range in age from 16 months to 3 years, police said.
When police arrived, they found the children huddled around the bodies trying to awaken the women.
