Paeonian Springs Throws 100th Anniversary Bash
Paeonian Springs village will celebrate its 100th anniversary from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Events include a display of village memorabilia, equipment from the American Work Horse Museum, arts and crafts, contests, country dancing and children's games. Admission is $2 per carload. Edmund J. Raus Jr., chief historian at the Manassas National Battlefield Park, will be guest speaker at Tuesday's meeting of the Loudoun County Civil War Round Table. The YMCA of Loudoun County is accepting registration for its three summer day camps, which begin June 18. The Upperville Colt and Horse Show continues through this weekend at Grafton Farm on Route 50 between Middleburg and Upperville. The show's highlight will be the Michelob Upperville Jumper Classic at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. There are also events today and Saturday. The show opens at 8 a.m. each day and continues until dusk. Several events are planned this weekend at Sky Meadows State Park: a morning hike from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday; an evening walk from 8 to 9 p.m. Saturday and a reptile display and seminar from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The Countryside Commercial and Professional Center, Loudoun Healthcare Foundation, Arundel Publications and the Junior Women's Club of Loudoun will sponsor 10-mile and five-kilometer races Saturday to benefit Jackie Lindsay, a 2-year-old from Lovettsville who has leukemia. The event, which also includes a 440-meter run, begins at 8 a.m. at Loudoun Valley High School in Purcellville. Call 338-2708.
The Loudoun Chapter Outreach Committee of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association will also sponsor a race this weekend, this one to benefit the Loudoun County shelter for the homeless.
