Cookout for Teens

The Loudoun Valley Community Center will sponsor a cookout for high school-age students from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, with volleyball and other sports, food and dancing. Admission is $2. Call 338-4122.

Civil War Encampment

This weekend at Sky Meadows State Park: a Civil War encampment from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and an astronomy program at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free; weekend parking is $1.50.

Money Management

The Loudoun chapter of the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service is seeking volunteers to assist families with money management. Volunteers will be trained in workshops beginning in September. Call 777-0373 or 478-1850, ext. 373.

Concert on Sunday

The Pan Masters Steel Orchestra will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday as part of the Bluemont Concert Series. The concert will be on the lawn of the Loudoun County Courthouse; a $2 donation is requested.

Lovettsville Fireworks

Lovettsville will celebrate the Fourth of July a few days early this year with a parade and festival beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday. The event includes two bands, from 1 to 5 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m., and fireworks at 9 p.m. In case of rain, the fireworks will be postponed until the same time on Sunday. Call 882-5284.

'Dog Days' Celebration

The Sterling Community Center is seeking individuals and groups to provide entertainment and games for its "Dog Days of August" celebration on Aug. 4. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 430-9480.

Social Service Hours

The Loudoun County Department of Social Services will begin extended hours Tuesday for a six-month trial period. The department, at 26 Fairfax St. SE, Leesburg, will be open from 8:30 a.m to 8 p.m. each Tuesday. Call 777-0353.

Hospital's Golf Benefit

Registration is open for Loudoun Hospital Center's annual Loudoun Golf & Dinner Classic July 27 to benefit the hospital's long-term care center. Fees are $125 per golfer, which includes dinner. Dinner tickets alone are $35. Call 771-2850.
