Park Group Membership Drive
The Sterling Foundation, a community group formed to beautify and promote Sterling Park, is conducting a membership drive tomorrow through July 27. The foundation is seeking to raise $35,000 for projects that include the maintenance of Sterling Boulevard, Sterling Park entrance signs, the planting of trees and shrubs at the park, and community recycling programs. Ida Lee Recreation Center Opening
Leesburg will officially open the Ida Lee Park Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The recreation center, part of a 138-acre park under development on Route 15 north, contains the county's first public indoor swimming pool. The grand opening will include a 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony, demonstrations, music, carriage rides, puppet shows, a basketball game, a magic show and refreshments. Leesburg to Open 3rd Recycling Center
Leesburg's third recycling center will open Sunday in the Leesburg Plaza parking lot behind Dominion Bank. Other centers, which opened July 4, are at the North King Street entrance to Ida Lee Park and on South Harrison Street across from Harrison Street Park. The centers are open 24 hours a day and have bins for newspapers, aluminum cans, and brown, clear and green glass. Call 777-1262.
State GOP Reception for Wolf, Rollins
The Virginia Republican Party will sponsor a reception to meet U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.) and state Del. Linda M. Rollins (R-Loudoun) from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Woods Recreation Center, 44020 Louisa Dr., Ashburn Village. Admission is free. Civil War Round Table Barbecue
The Loudoun County Civil War Round Table will have a barbecue beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday at Creek Crossing Farm in Lincoln. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. The event will include Civil War reenactments and banjo music. Admission is $8 for adults and free for children younger than 12. Meeting Planned on Claude Moore Park
The county Department of Parks and Recreation will sponsor an informational meeting tonight about plans for Claude Moore Park, a 357-acre tract in Sterling that will be the largest park in the county. Alumni Association Picnic, Art Show
The Loudoun Douglass Alumni Association will sponsor a reunion picnic Saturday and an art show Sunday. The picnic will be at the Douglass Community Center Pavilion in Leesburg, and the art show will be at the home of Reginald Simms, 210 East D St. in Purcellville, from 1:30 to 6 p.m. Call 338-2317.
Sunday Courthouse Concert Scheduled

Events at Sky Meadows State Park
This week at Sky Meadows State Park: "What Animal Am I?," a game for children ages 5 to 12 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday; a spinning wheel demonstration from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday; and a walk to the ruins of Snowden Manor from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday.
